AVISON YOUNG SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
Coin pass challenge
Four coins. Four core values. One SoCal team.
Inspired by the Army tradition of passing a coin as a meaningful gesture of recognition, the SoCal Coin Pass Challenge is a new way for our teams to celebrate the everyday actions that bring Avison Young’s Core Four Values to life. Across the region, four coins — each representing one of our values: Passionate, Smart, Connected, and Invested — will be passed from one team member to another in recognition of recent accomplishments, collaboration, leadership, support, or the positive attitude they bring to their work. As each coin continues its journey, it will carry forward the stories of the people and moments that reflect who we are at our best.
Our four core values
Passionate
Smart
Connected
Invested

We are passionate professionals who love what we do. We give it our all and continually strive for excellence - guided by respect for one another and the power of our collective expertise.
Being Passionate is about bringing energy, pride, and a growth mindset to everything we do. It shows up in the moments when we push for a better outcome, when we support one another, and when we celebrate the expertise we each bring. This value invites us to approach our work with enthusiasm, curiosity, and a willingness to continually improve.
We are smart professionals who think twice and act once - valuing thoughtful decisions, open collaboration, and ideas over egos to drive progress and shared success.
Being Smart means acting with intention. It encourages us to pause before we act, engage openly with others, and value good ideas - no matter where they come from. When we work smart, we create space for collaboration, thoughtful challenge, and decisions that set us up for long-term success.
We are connected. We work together to put our clients first, building trust and driving meaningful, long-lasting impact.
Connected reminds us that we are stronger together than we are alone. Across teams, regions, and time zones, our relationships with one another and with our clients enable us to deliver impactful work. Living this value means staying open, communicating clearly, and actively supporting the success of those around us.
We are invested. We are accountable for our actions, act with integrity, and strive for win win outcomes that strengthen our teams, clients, and company.
To be Invested is to take ownership - of our decisions, our actions, and our impact. It’s about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard, and finding solutions that benefit everyone involved. This value encourages us to lead with integrity and commit to outcomes that move us forward collectively.
The Challenge
Pass the coin. Recognize the value. Keep it moving.
Four Value Coins will be distributed across the Southern California region to team members who strongly represent each of Avison Young’s Core Four Values: Passionate, Smart, Connected, and Invested. Each recipient will hold their coin for two weeks before passing it on to someone else they believe deserves recognition for demonstrating that value in action.
The goal is to keep recognition moving across our region, celebrating the everyday moments, big wins, quiet contributions, and collaborative efforts that strengthen our teams and culture. When you receive a coin, you are encouraged to think beyond your immediate office or service line. A broker might recognize a property manager. An accountant might recognize a marketer. A team member in one office might pass a coin to someone in another. The Coin Pass Challenge is designed to spotlight the many ways our people support one another, serve our clients, and bring our values to life across the Southern California region.
