Why choose an aerial cable car transit?

Aerial cable car systems are the most environmentally sustainable, resilient, and economical rapid transit solution that is available for traffic congested metro areas; providing a “green” and economical solution to urban and transit planners.

Small Carbon Footprint One of the primary manufacturers of the technology indicates that “an urban cable car system with a 3,600 person capacity per hour can use as little as 0.2 kwh to transport one rider over a distance of 1 mile. The same route would require 36 buses or 720 cars to move the same number of people in an hour.”

The Palm Beach Skyway will capitalize on the potential synergy between the Lightspeed property and the West Palm Beach Downtown metro area drawing visitor activity and business development to the property.

First/Last Mile Connector

The system will provide a connection to and from the West Palm Beach Brightline Station to the Lightspeed property with a short distance to interconnect seamlessly to the Palm Beach International Airport.

Considering that other transit systems, like trains or other dedicated guideway transit systems, can cost in the hundreds of millions of dollars per mile, the development cost per mile for an aerial cable car system is relatively inexpensive at under fifty million dollars per mile. Additionally, the amount of time to build out and implement an aerial system is much less than other transit systems resulting in time and cost savings, and with low disruption to surrounding neighborhoods and businesses.
